CAST is an alternative provision that uses fishing and hands-on work to spark and sustain young people’s interest and motivation in learning new skills and pursuing their objectives. We help them see the connection between education and success and support them in developing their life skills. We provide a positive and individualised environment that inspires young people to take charge of their lives and be responsible for their actions and outcomes.
We deliver training and support in small groups, in a way that promotes empowerment and personal responsibility. We also acknowledge achievements through national qualifications in Pearson BTEC Entry 3, Level 1, and Level 2. Young people are encouraged and supported to progress into successful future pathways.
Our young people enjoy the outdoor learning environment; all our learning takes place in a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere where students feel respected, at home, and enthusiastic about learning. We have three groups each day doing different practical projects which enables young people to work with others they get along with and to choose the level of challenge they want.
